It is agreed that as a minimum (to be increased as traffic develops) two through passenger trains each way shall be run from Kowloon to Canton and from Canton to Kowloon respectively stoppid only at Shamchum and Sheklung.

Rolling Stock for through traffic will be provided by each section in proportion to its mileage that is to say the com- -position of through trains shall be one-fifth British and four- -fifths Chinese.

Goods Siding at Shamchun Market.

The Chinese Section will provide a siding for loading goods at Shanchun Market Town itself. Waggons loaded at this siding will be shunted by the Chinese Section to the Shamchun Railway Station where the goods will be examined by the Customs and sealed before they start for Hongkong. As it will not pay to tranship goods from Chinese waggons to British waggons at Shanchun Railway Station it is agreed that British waggons may be shunted to the siding at Shanchun Market Town by the Chinese Section and rates charged in proportion to mileage from the siding to Hongkong. Passengers by all local trains will change at Shamchun the timing of these trains to be arranged to suit the traffic exigencies of both Sections. Facilities in twx the way of siding and platform accommodation for British local trains will be provided by the Chinese Section at Shanchun.

Locomotives at Shanchun.

Engines belonging to the Chinese Section must be in readiness at Shamchun to take on the Express Trains from Kowloon te Canton without delay and similarly an engine belonging to the British Section must be in readiness at Shanchun to take on the Express Train from Canton to Kowloon without delay. To ensure punctuality each section binds itself to pay to the other section the penalty of one dollar per minute's delay, after the first fifteen minutes, provided
